Why hire and Intimacy Coordinator?

An Intimacy Coordinator is a liaison between actors, producers and directors for scenes involving nudity, simulated sex and hyper exposure of minors.

By facilitating an environment where the director’s vision can be honored without jeopardizing the safety or consent of actors, we can collectively create impactful scenes that sweep audiences off their feet and take their breath away.

What does an Intimacy Coordinator do?

  • Facilitate clear communication between actor, director & producer to ensure all parties understand the creative vision and agree on the way it will be filmed.

  • Support actors in emotionally preparing for intense intimacy scenes such as simulated sexual violence, ensuring their psychological safety before, during and after the scene is filmed.

  • Collaborate with other departments to facilitate logistics involving scenes of nudity and simulated sex, ensuring a smooth production process.

  • Ensuring actors boundaries are respected at all times, including during the filming of the scene, and supporting any shifts in those boundaries in real time so the production can keep moving in a way that it’s in alignment with both creative and the actor’s boundaries.

  • Supporting minors in scenes involving familial intimacy such as snuggling or hyper exposure such as taking a bath, being on a toilet or in a bathing suit.

  • Ensure closet set protocols and SAG-AFTRA guidelines are being followed.

  • Ensure the actors have a working environment that is both physically and psychologically safe for them.

  • Serve as an on-set ally for LGBTQIA+ cast and crew members.

  • Choreography of simulated sex scenes to enhance authenticity and believability.

  • Consult on scenes and storylines involving non-monogamy, Kink, BDSM and alternative lifestyles to enhance authenticity.
